LONGACRE DIGITAL DUROMETER
NEW Digital Readout 0-100 (Shore ‘A’ scale)
Durometers can be a very effective tool for selecting the best tires from a new stack as well as helping to decide when your used set needs replacement.
Tire hardness has a huge effect on your car’s performance. A tyre too hard won’t bite and a tire too soft may wear quickly or even ball up. Also tyre hardness changes during its life cycle. To run your best, you must keep track of all your tire’s hardnesses. This easy-to-use tool will help you do just that – quickly, accurately & easily.
Longacres Digital Durometer measures the relative hardness of the rubber on your racing tires. In order to get the most accurate results you need to follow a standard routine. You must apply equal pressure to the durometer each time you take a reading. If you press the durometer down very hard one time and then very soft the next your results will vary due to the uneven hand pressure.
- Straight edge on base to ‘rock’ durometer for more consistent results
- Non-slip coating for better grip
- Calibration test block included
- Accurate easy-to-use
- Includes hard case and pouch
- Reads in .5 increments
For the most consistent results rock the durometer from angled back past straight up to angled forward. The readout will move up to the highest (true) reading, then back down. Record the highest reading reached. The durometer must have a straight edge on base to do this properly. If you just push straight down you may get inconsistent and inaccurate results. Check your tires in several places and take an average. Racing tyre hardness varies in different places on the tyre.
