Brake ducting is important in applications where brake temp is high. The rotor can only shed heat if hot air is replaced by cooler air. The most effective cooling strategy is usually ducting air into the rotor “eye,” pushing airflow through internal vanes, and being sure hot air can escape the wheel well.
A constant flow of air to your brake system is critical as is direct flow onto an oil cooler. High-speed air takes the path of least resistance. Without a duct, air will go around the cooler rather than through it.
Airflow can be easily achieved with an efficient brake or oil cool duct and the correct hose.
